Citizens Police academy

Mission Statement

The Academy is an eleven week program designed to give citizens an overview of our department’s structure, services and personnel.  The curriculum will be similar to the traditional police academy.  The weekly sessions are not designed to make participants police officers, but rather to assist them in understanding the “How and Why” of the officers and the agencies.  The thirty-three hour raining program consists of classroom time and “hands on” instruction.  Topics covered include the officer selection and training process, the roles and responsibilities of the uniformed officer, use of firearms and deadly force options, investigations and evidence processing, communications, specialized units, community involvement, “ride-a-longs”, and much more.

Citizens Police Academy

Goals

The goal of the Citizens Police Academy is to educate and inform the citizens of Mundy Township, to provide a forum for police-community interaction, and to foster a partnership through greater understanding.  The end result is to work together to solve problems and create a safer community for all.
