Summer Tax Bill Information

Summer Tax Bills are mailed July 1 of each year and amounts are available at that time.  Below you will find some answers to questions that you will have.

Why the change in the appearance of my tax bill?!

We have recently purchased some software that makes it easier for us to keep track of tax and assessing information for your parcel number.

Okay, where's my "COPY" stamp, I have an escrow account, should I be worried? Please explain this!!!

If you do not have a code, please contact your mortgage company with payment information. If you have a code and don't have a current escrow account, disregard the mortgage code and let us know by phone or mail that you are responsible for tax payments. Please look for your mortgage code. (Click on the thumbnail photo for an example.) The code specifies that we have sent your mortgage company a tax bill to pay. We are no longer stamping the bills with a “COPY” stamp, instead, we are inserting a mortgage code.

IF you don't have an escrow account and there is not an internal code present after the Mtg. Code:  on the Summer Tax Bill then you are responsible for full payment.

What schools are collecting taxes and what are their codes?

The Township Treasurer is the collecting agent for current year property taxes. The summer tax bill covers your local school district, Mott Community College and Genesee Intermediate School District (County) as follows:

*Swartz Creek/Code: 25 180

*Carman Ainsworth/Code: 25 080

*Grand Blanc/Code: 25 030

(The State Education tax and 100% (one-hundred percent) of the local and county school mills will be collected.)

*Linden/Code: 25 250 - The State Education tax and 50% (fifty percent) of the local and county school mills are collected.

*Lake Fenton/Code: 25 200 – The State Education tax is collected.

Where can I find more information about Summer taxes?

You may find more information on the "tax" portion of our website.  This includes State of Michigan information.

What are the millage rates and payment information?!

They may be found here

Is there anything else that should be pointed out?

Yes, it's important that all recipients, including Mortgage customers to retain the upper portion of the tax bill for your records.  It contains taxes levied, taxing unit breakdowns, values and other important information you will need for Income Tax returns, refinances, etc.  Do NOT discard this portion.

Also, it is important to note that as of the winter 2007 tax season, PAID receipts will no longer be mailed.  Your cancelled check/or your year end Mortgage statement and the original upper portion of your tax bill will be your receipt showing your tax deduction amount.
